Pre-Production Planning By Bennita!
Health and Safety at the station and house
As you know my roles in the group are props and health and safety. Firstly I'm tackling the health and safety issue. I am going to make bullet points of the main issues that may occur during filming.
Danger on the Steps- We need to take extra care in when we film on the steps as they may become slippery or even just miss-step and fall. To prevent these issues we need to wear suitable foot ware i.e trainers, or general foot ware with rubber soles but also taking care of where we step is very important so that we don't fall or even break the camera, this cannot be fully avoided but we can try and prevent it the best we can. We can also make sure the steps are dry to also protect ourselves.
On the platform- Risk of getting too close to the edge is very likely but we need to make sure we stay behind the yellow line to insure that we never get close enough to actually fall. If the ground is wet we also need to prevent slipping. The rail tracks have live electrical currents running through them which are extremely dangerous and life threatening if touched in anyway so we must avoid this at all cost this will not happen if we follow all of my procedures as above.
This website below illustrates how dangerous the railway is and also has a few interesting facts.

On the train- Public will be using the train so being as quite and polite is necessary as upsetting the public may forfit us being able to film there. We can warn the public of our filming by using signs explaining that we are clearly filming allowing the public know what we are exactly doing. Considering that fact we also need to get on with the filming as quickly as possible we do need to get off at Balcombe. Continuity needs to be matched here aswell so the less shots the better we can get right in one go the better.
Getting off the train- When filming to get off of the train we need to make sure the doors are open long enough for us to film therefore finding a quiet train is essential. Also we need to be careful when stepping off of the train as there is often a big gap. This may event in falling but to ensure this doesn't happen the actor needs to take a big step over the gap to a clear path, this may also occur with the cameraman as they may not get too close either.
Using the equipment- Be careful of the wires and leads we may need to connect the lights to the electricity. This can be prevented by taping them either to the floor or the the side of the room on the bottom of the wall to prevent tripping.
This website shows how to prevent tripping by hiding wires-

The lights may get hot so do not touch them when they are on and also make sure you have dry hands when touching the camera and electrical equipment as it may event in having an electric shock. Prevent this by making sure you have dry hands. With the umbrellas make sure there is no one near you when putting them up as they have Sharp ends and may poke someone.

Chloe has covered the clothing and appearances of the actors and I just need to desribe the objects we are using to make our thriller happen.

Main road outside station and The house- Be careful of the cars when filming outside not only with your health and safety but also with the continuity. This can be prevented by not going near the road but if we do need to, we need to make sure it is clear of cars or use the traffic lights but also by wearing high visible clothing just like in the picture or visible cones.
Objects in the house- Be careful not to knock anything over or drop anything as this may result in accidents and cause a danger if it is glass or china.

Chloe has covered the clothing and appearances of the actors and I just need to desribe the objects we are using to make our thriller happen.
TRAIN TICKET- This will be used when the actor goes through the barriers on the platform.
A TELEPHONE- Used when in the house, it needs to look quite old.
A MOBILE PHONE- From when the actor recieves/makes a call.
A HAT- The actor will wear this to make him seem 'suspicious' and would have more of his identity hidden to create suspence and mystery
A PHOTOGRAPH OF THE GIRL- This shows who the actor is looking for. This photo will appear when her gets it either out of his wallet or pocket and will look at it with longingness and love.
BAG- The actor will have a bag with some of his possetions in. This makes it more realistic and believeable.
It will appear that we may need some more props within the scenes we are filing but these can be found on site. I will update this blog if we do.
